Pipeline Filtration

Black powder is fine iron sulphide and iron oxide formed by corrosion inside steel pipelines. It narrows the pipe, wears compressors, pumps and valves, blocks meters and fouls barrier filters that then need replacing and disposing of as hazardous waste.

Because black powder is an iron compound, a magnet holds it. A magnetic pipeline filter takes it out of the flow at full pressure with no consumable element. The rods are lifted out and cleaned.

We make two units. Filtramag XT is the simpler filter for smaller lines. Ultrafiltrex is the high pressure modular unit for transmission and process pipelines. Both are full stainless steel and made to your connection type.

Upstream, at wellhead control, heating and cooling systems and pressure reduction, to protect valves, meters and compressors. Midstream, in filtration trains, gas gathering stations and at pig receiving stations. Downstream, at refinery inlets and storage.
