A cup that multiplies the hold
The steel cup carries the field from the back of the magnet round to the working face. The pull on that face is several times what the bare magnet would give, and the magnet is protected from knocks.
Shallow pots suit thin plate and fixtures where height is limited. They hold jigs, guards, sensors, signs and tools, and hang cables and hoses from steel frames. A countersunk hole or a threaded stud bolts the magnet in place.
