Magnetic Filtration

Fine steel particles in a coolant, oil or wash liquid score slideways, block nozzles, wear pumps and spoil the surface finish. A barrier filter catches them only if its pores are small enough, and then it blocks.

A magnetic filter works by attraction. The fluid passes over high strength neodymium rods and the iron holds to them. Particles of any size are removed at full flow. Nothing is consumed. Cleaning is a wipe of the rods.

Grinding and machining coolant lasts longer and the finish improves. Hydraulic and gear oil carries less wear metal, so the machine wears less. Wash tanks stop redepositing iron on the next batch.

Most contamination in a metalworking fluid is iron. Put the magnetic filter first and a coarser barrier filter after it, and the barrier filter lasts many times longer.
